Photographs of Buachaille Etive Mor
Buachaille Etive Mor
Landscape | November 2008, Rannoch Moor, Scotland.
Heading home after a very hard and snowy weekend climbing on Ben Nevis, Kathryn and I stopped just before the Kingshouse Hotel to take some shots of Buachaille Etive Mor. I have been driving this road for years and I had never seen the weather and the mountain looking so photogenic. Much better than a few other efforts I have had.

Photographs from The Falls of Dochart and the MacNab Burial Ground
The Falls of Dochart
Still life | November 2008, Killin, Scotland.
The Falls of Dochart in Killin can be very photogenic when the light is right. The light wasn't right so we headed into the MacNab Burial Ground where everything was more atmospheric and armed with our tripods took in the late autumn sights. Kathryn fought her reversing ring trying to take photos of mushrooms while I wandered aimlessly around the trees.

Photographs of the autumn colours in Glen Etive
Camping in Glen Etive
Landscape | Novmeber 2008, Glen Etive, Scotland.
The weather forecast lied when it said there was going to be a clear night, we rushed to Glen Coe to try and take some photographs of the stars but it clouded in. Instead I fooled around with the camera in the tent taking images of Kathryn cooking. In the morning we took our tripods into the top of Glen Etive and took some images of Stob Dearg with the river in the foreground

Photographs from our Day in Monaco
Monaco
Still Life | October 2008, Monte Carlo, Monaco.
I was lucky enough to spend a day in Monte Carlo which is a strange city. One aspect is the well known super rich lifestyle that the tax free haven has to offer while the other is a deeply cultural outlook upon life. The buildings and gardens of the old town offered some amazing sights although I would love to return when the formula one is in town.

Nice on the French Riviera
Still Life | October 2008, Nice, French Riviera.
My Mum had been wanting to go to the French Riviera for months so I packed a small bag with a camera and few lenses to accompany her. It was a lot of fun wandering around a sea side rather than a mountain range although the city and the culture was far more interesting then the beach that people come for.

Photographs of Kathryn from Tantallon Castle
Kathryn at Tantallon Castle
People | September 2008, North Berwick, Scotland.
We had a free weekend and considering my recent lapse of climbing confidence we went photo'ing. As before Kathryn wanted me to take some Photographs of her wearing her Corset from Cyber in Glasgow and her leather skirt from Northbound Leather in Toronto, I took the opportunity to push the boundary of my fathers new(ish) Nikon D200 in high and low contrast situations. The results are striking

Photographs of Kathryn from The Royal Botanic Gardens

More photography from our weekend and attempt to create a great image of Kathryn wearing some stunning clothes. Needless to say that wearing a corset and leather skirt around The Royal Botanic Gardens in Edinburgh gets some great looks from passers by. The weather was not in our favour and I was pushing the limits of both the light and the equipment by using a gold foil reflector and experimenting with the exposure.

Photographs of the Festive Firework Finale
Firework Finale
Landscape | August 2008, Edinburgh, Scotland.
The end of the Edinburgh International festival is always a big hit in the city, mostly due to the large volume of fireworks set off from the battlements on the castle. The ideal place in the eyes of the council is to watch the display from the gardens at the foot of the castle however for those who didn't have tickets, Calton Hill provides a wonderful view over the city.

Photographs from the Zoo
Edinburgh Zoo
Still Life | July 2008, Edinburgh Zoo, Scotland.
My father has recently put his hand in his pocket and purchased a D200 from Ffordes in Beauly, needless to say that I am very sceptical of digital cameras, mostly because most pro photographers I know would go back to film if it was the same price. So a little test was undertaken to compare the results of images taken using the D200 with those taken with my trusty F3 a year a go. Edinburgh Zoo is doing very well and has some great new enclosures which allow you to get close to the animals without glass or mesh.
